Peter’s stitches

Uncategorized Add comments

So, Peter had an accident on Friday afternoon. Actually, a couple of accidents but one resulted in stitches. We actually started off with injuries last week when Cassie got her hand stuck in the side door on the van. Our van has automatic doors and it actually has sensors so she can’t get her hand stuck in the front of the door. However, she was touching the door while it closed and somehow managed to get her hand stuck in the back of the door if that makes sense. And the best part is that I didn’t realize it at first. I thought she was crying because she didn’t want to come inside and I kept telling her we would come back out later. Finally she yelled she was stuck and I felt HORRIBLE. Her hand was swollen and bleeding and scratched. Thankfully, our doctor’s office does urgent care too so I ran Peter next door to Steff’s and took Cassie to the doctor. We were lucky, her hand wasn’t broken and with the exception of her hand being sore for a few days she has been fine. She was actually most upset that Peter got to go next door to Winston and Charlie’s house and she didn’t get to.

So, then we get to this week. On Friday morning we were playing downstairs and Cassie has a little chair that had been pushed over by the coffee table. Peter has been crawling over everything later. If the chair is pushed up by the couch he can crawl up from it onto the couch. So, he was playing on the chair and I was cleaning the kitchen, not even really thinking about it, and I heard a slam and crying. I ran over and he had pushed the chair into the coffee table and banged his head. Thankfully, he just had a little bruise forming on his nose and forehead. I actually talked to Adam a little bit after it happened and said not to be surprised if he had a black eye when he got home because he had banged his head. So, I pulled the chair further from the table and we went on with our day. An hour later after lunch we were playing in the family room again. Cassie and I were playing with some toy and Peter was crawling around again. All of a sudden, I heard a large crack again and looked up…the chair had been pushed back by the table and he had hit his head again. This time it was gushing blood though.

So, I ran over to Steff’s again, this time with Cassie and went to get into the car with Peter. Then I realized I couldn’t find my car keys. My neighbor Kristie was outside and I was panicking. I asked her to come in and help me look. We couldn’t find them so she offered to let me borrow her van. THANK YOU Kristie!!! (After Adam came home it took us over an hour to find my keys…they were stuck down in the couch cushions, not too sure how that happened). I drove Peter to the doctor’s office and they cleaned him up and decided he would need stitches. I know I cried more during it than he did. Hopefully this will never happen again. Here are some pictures.

So sorry about the trauma. That’s terrible. But, as has been pointed out, his hair does look really cute! :)
