Blank : 70 x 25mm Low-Profile Cavalry Bases

These low-profile, oval bases measure 70 mm x 25 mm in diameter and are 2 mm thick. On the bottom of each base are areas that allow you to securely glue a few 5 x 1 mm disc magnets in place, making it ideal for those wanting to magnetize them for easier transport and storage.

Our customers find that these bases offer a slimmer option for cavalry, creatures, old-school bikes, barricades and special units in the other various 28-32mm scale model games you may want closer to ground level. They are also suitable for any specialty units or scenery in 6-8mm scale game systems like Legions Imperialis, Titanicus or Epic.

PolyApe-12 is a nylon plastic that offers excellent strength and durability. It is a matte white material that can be easily dyed any color you want, even with a simple Sharpie pen, or you can leave it white and paint it. This material is porous enough to accept acrylic paint color without the need for a primer; however, it may provide a nice dark starting point to paint on if you do. We recommend using super glue to attach parts to this material.

To dye our PolyApe-12 bases, add your selected synthetic fabric dye (RIT DyeMore) to some hot water (near boiling). This way the dye can easily dissolve, allowing the bases to absorb the dye quickly. Submerge the bases and maintain the heat until the bases reach you desired color intensity. Rinse the bases thoroughly in cold water and allow to air dry before using.
